Interpersonal Communications

Is an individual or team event that recognizes participants who develop an individual, school, or community project designed to strengthen interpersonal communications and apply communication knowledge and skill to similar situations.  (Junior, Senior, and Occupational)

Project: 
1.Participants should be knowledgeable about strengthening communication in each of these areas: 
one-on-one communication 
conflict resolution 
leadership styles 

2.In completing the project participants will: 
develop a project using the planning process 
apply communication techniques 
strengthen communication in one of these areas: community, employment relationships, family, peers, or school 
Presentation:
1.Presentation will consist of: 
3-5 minute oral presentation 
written summary 
evaluator’s questions 
interpretation of a written case study to evaluate and understand    communication 
Tips: 1.Check Star Events manual for requirements on the written summary and file folder. 

2.Total time for event will be approximately 40 minutes. 

3.Blank note cards will be provided in the case study room for participants 

4.Participants can use visuals during oral presentation if visuals were used in the "act" step of the planning process
