Parliamentary Procedure

Is a team event that recognizes chapters that develop a working knowledge of Parliamentary law and the ability to conduct a business meeting.  (Junior, Senior, and Occupational)

Project: 1.The Parliamentary Procedure team will consist of 4-8 members including a: 
President 
Secretary 
Treasurer 
Up to 5 members

2.The following areas must be covered during the 15-20 minute demonstration: 
opening ceremony 
call to order 
minutes 
treasurer’s report 
committee reports 
unfinished business 
new business 
closing ceremony 
adjournment
Presentation  15-20 demonstration (gavel to gavel) 
5-10 minute question and answer period with the evaluators and participants on parliamentary procedure

Participants will be provided with:
skeleton agenda 
minutes of previous meeting 
treasurer’s report 
2 topics for new business 
motion cards 
a dictionary 
form of recording minutes 
copy of Robert’s Rules of Order Newly revised
Tips: 1.Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised will be used. 

2.All members of the team must participate in discussion. 

3.Teams will be responsible for a gavel, pencils, paper and/or pens. 

4.Total time for the event is approximately 60 minutes.
