Now that you have completed your
family structure project I need you to think about the experience and
reflect back on what you have learned and accomplished. Hopefully you
will have gained some valuable insights about your own family and your
thinking on the matter.
- Who were the family members that you included in
your sculpture?
- Who is the most significant member of your
family? Why?
- Were there any members that you omitted? If so,
why did you decide not to include them?
- Discuss the list of qualities about significant
family members (including yourself) that you were supposed to create
BEFORE you began making the model. What kinds of shapes did you decide
to use for each person in your family and explain your reasoning.
- What was the most difficult aspect of this
project?
- What was the least difficult aspect of this
project?
- Regarding the maquette (small model), how did you
solve problems of spatial relationships between members? How did you
see your family fitting together? How did you see yourself in
relationship to that structure?”
- Did you find problems between making the model and
constructing the final version in foam core since the two materials
behave differently? If so, how did you solve that problem?
- Discuss your finished work according the to
following criteria:
- Craftsmanship
- Creativity
- Effective use of Elements and Principles of
design
- Explain your use of Dominance (Emphasis),
Balance, Variety, Unity, Repetition, Proximity, Similarity, Rhythm or
Movement
- Effort
- Use of class time
- If you could do any part of the project over, what
would it be? What kinds of changes or revisions would you make if you
had the opportunity and time available?
- How did your ideas change and evolve as you worked
on the assignment, and what did you discover as your ideas changed?
- What aspects of this project surprised you?
Conclusion:
- What did you learn about your relationship to
your family?
- What insights did you gain about specific family
members? What did you learn?
