PITFALLS TO AVOID

TRY TO AVOID MAKING SLIDES THAT:

  • Has a lot of text to read.
  • Uses text that is too hard to read, or too small to see
  • Has A LOT of unnecessary animation.  (some is ok, but don’t overdo it)

Step Two: Research

SLIDE #1 - You will need a title slide that has all of the following information on it:

  • Your name
  • 7th Grade
  • 6th Period – Introduction to Art Class
  • Art Careers Presentation- ________________________  (put the name of your chosen career in the blank)

Research your career and answer the following questions in your presentation.

SLIDE #2 -  Job Description – Find out the definition or brief description of the career. What kind of job is this?  What do people do in this field? What does this person do on a daily basis? Do they have a shop or office? What time of the day or week do they work? What are they responsible for?

SLIDE #3-  What qualities/interests are needed? (List what kinds of skills would you need to do this kind of job well?)

SLIDE #4 - What training or education is required for this career?  For example: Associates Degree, Bachelors Degree, Certification, Internship etc.?

(What level of education or schooling do you need to do this kind of job?)

SLIDE #5- What is the average annual estimated salary?  (How much money can a person make with this kind of job per year?)

SLIDE#6 -  Other: famous people in the career, interesting tidbits or facts about your chosen career that you may have learned in your research.  See if you can name someone famous/successful doing this career.

SLIDE #7 -  Images/photos related to the career  (Find as many images that relate to your career as you can and use them in your powerpoint.)

Step Three: Put it together

You will put all the information together into a final power point project. You will also be expected to present the project to the rest of the class two days from today!  J

Step Four: Present your project to the class
